What counts as a render?
One API call to POST /edit/v1/render that completes successfully. Failed renders are not counted.
Can I self-host instead?
Yes. CutEngine's rendering engine is open source (MIT). Clone from GitHub and run on your own infrastructure for free.
Is it Shotstack API compatible?
Yes. Full Shotstack Edit API v1 compatible. Replace the endpoint URL and API key — your existing code works.
What output formats are supported?
MP4, GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, MP3. Resolutions from preview to 4K. Aspect ratios: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 4:3.
What happens if I exceed my plan limit?
Overage renders are billed at $0.05/render (Pro) or $0.04/render (Business). Free tier renders are blocked at the limit.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard. Access continues until the end of your billing period. 7-day full refund on first payment.
